Service Description

Course: River Rescue Certification / L4 Length: 2 Consecutive days [only first day shows on checkout] Dates: June 21-22 Richmond VA, July 12-13 Ohiopyle PA, Oct 18-19 Richmond VA Time: 8:30am - 5:00pm each day Price: $275 Class Size: 6 minimum - 12 maximum The River Rescue Certification (RRC) course is specifically designed for private boaters, river guides, kayakers, pack rafters and other river users. Basic river skills are a prerequisite so that we can jump right into safety and rescue skills. Emphasis is on identifying hazards, good risk assessment, and on rescue itself; both of self and others. This is the class you want as a river runner to stay safe and know what to do if something goes wrong. The course addresses the river rescue needs of rafters, rowers, kayakers, pack rafters, canoeists, and SUP paddlers. This course will take place in class II whitewater. The RRC course is 16 hours and is entirely outside with ample water time. Any time not in the water, will be on shore, and active. Students should prepare for outside air and water temperatures appropriately. This is a dynamic and engaging curriculum and will require a full two-day commitment with homework at night. Students taking this course MUST meet the following general requirements: - American Canoe Association (ACA) Essential Eligibility Criteria - Ability to competently navigate class II-III whitewater. Students completing the course will receive a River Rescue Certification certification from Sierra Rescue International. Attendance doesn’t guarantee certification. Participation and skill demonstration required. Sierra Rescue International River Rescue Certification is valid for 3 years. Upon request this can also be an American Canoe Association ACA Level 4 Swiftwater Rescue course. Note: Once you have registered for a course, we’ll send you a confirmation email and a course details pack. Course details will include our liability waiver and release from, medical history form, course outline, packing list, meeting times and locations, and instructor contact information. What We Provide: - Course field guide and pen - Throw bags to practice with - Rescue hardware to practice with Packing List: - River clothing, appropriate layers, closed toe shoes - Drysuit or wetsuit is recommended for cold water. - Neoprene gloves and booties recommended for cold water - Helmet, - PFD / life jacket - Water bottle and snacks - Self care items - Folding chair -Dry Clothes


Cancellation Policy

We appreciate your interest in working with Fall Line River School! By accepting this you are entering a contractual relationship for training between you/your organization and Fall Line River School. Payment is due upon registration for the course. Unless other arrangements have been made. Cancellation/Reschedule Policy: Any cancellation/reschedule must be received in writing to falllineriverschool@gmail.com. More than 30 days before the first day of your course: If you reschedule you will get a 100% credit. If you cancel we will give you a 95% refund. Between 30-14 days before the first day of your course: If you reschedule you will get a 50% credit. If you cancel we will give you a 45% refund. If you cancel less than 14 days before the first day of your course, no rescheduling, no refunds. Please note: We can no longer extend any kind of credit or refund due to medical or other last minute emergencies. You are, however, welcome to substitute someone else in your place. Thank you for your understanding. Cancellation/Reschedule by Fall Line River School: Courses take place rain or shine. If a course has to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e., extreme weather) then we give you a spot on another date and location of the same course, or a full credit to use towards any of our other courses. Fall Line River School is not responsible for expenses incurred by students in preparing for a cancelled course (for example non-refundable advance purchase plane tickets, equipment etc. or for any additional arrangements for other travel plans associated with this course).
